Community Guidelines

Last updated September 1, 2026

Bon Voyage is a language-exchange community for adults. These Community Guidelines explain how we expect members to treat each other in profiles, scheduling, and live video, audio, and chat sessions. They sit alongside our Terms of Service. If the two conflict, the Terms control.

1. Be 18 or older

Bon Voyage is for people who are 18 or older. Do not create an account, join a session, or roleplay as a minor. If we learn that someone is under 18, we will remove the account.

2. Practice with patience

Language exchange is the point of the community. Partners will have different accents, proficiency levels, and ways of speaking. Do not mock mistakes, rush someone, or treat a session like a test. Offer corrections when they are welcome, and give others the same patience you would want when you are the learner.

3. Respect in sessions

Sessions are conversations with real people. Be kind, keep the tone appropriate for strangers practicing a language, and leave any session that feels unsafe. You agree not to harass, threaten, sexually pressure, hate on, or exploit other members.

4. Keep sessions on purpose

Use video, audio, and chat for language practice and genuine cultural exchange. Do not use Bon Voyage to pitch dating, sell products, solicit money, spam, or move people onto scams or unrelated services. If a conversation stops being about practice, end it politely and, if needed, block or report.

5. Cameras, microphones, and recording

  • You control your own camera and microphone. Use them in a setting you are comfortable sharing.
  • Do not record, screenshot, or redistribute another member’s session, image, or personal information without permission.
  • Do not pressure someone to turn a camera on, stay in a session, or share contact details they have not offered.

6. Honest profiles

Keep your profile accurate enough that partners can decide whether to practice with you. Do not misrepresent your identity, languages, or age. Do not create extra accounts to evade bans, quotas, reports, or other limits.

7. What’s not allowed

These behaviors can lead to removal from a session or from Bon Voyage:

  • Harassment, threats, hate, or impersonation.
  • Illegal content, or sexual content involving minors.
  • Recording or sharing another member’s image, voice, or personal information without permission.
  • Spam, scraping, reverse engineering, or disrupting the Services.
  • Using multiple accounts to evade moderation or limits.

8. Block, report, and enforcement

If someone makes you uncomfortable, leave the session. You can block members and report conduct through the product. We may review reports, restrict accounts, suspend or ban members, and keep records needed for safety and legal compliance. We do not guarantee a particular outcome for every report.

9. How this relates to the Terms

These Guidelines describe the community we want to keep. The Terms of Service are the binding rules for using Bon Voyage. Violating either can lead to account action. Our data practices are described in the Privacy Policy.
